I’ve always loved match, as a feeling — the calm focus and the steady energy. But as much as I loved drinking matcha, I struggled to live with it. Traditional matcha needed tools, time, and space — things I didn’t always have between the office, the gym, and everyday movement. Outside, it wasn’t much better. Café matcha was often overpriced and far from ceremonial quality. I wanted something better. Something I could carry, trust and drink anywhere, without lowering my standards.
That’s why I started VAEL. VAEL was created so ceremonial-grade matcha could move with you —to your bag, your desk, your day.

Where Our Matcha Comes From
Our search led us to the mountains of Guizhou, China — a high-altitude region known for its clean air, misty climate, and slow-growing tea leaves.
Traditionally, the highest-quality matcha has come from Japan. But today, truly ceremonial-grade matcha is increasingly rare — limited in supply, rising sharply in price, and difficult to access consistently.
Rather than compromise on quality and raising price, we chose to look elsewhere.
Guizhou’s high-altitude climate, natural shade, and mineral-rich environment
create ideal conditions for cultivating exceptional matcha — allowing the leaves to develop a smoother taste, vibrant colour, and balanced energy.
We work with farms that focus on quality over scale, using first harvest leaves and traditional stone-milling methods to preserve the character of ceremonial-grade matcha.
This origin defines how the matcha feels when you drink it — clean, calm, and easy to return to.
